Hewitson Miss Harry Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre
Bright red with a purple hue. The aromas are of ripe strawberry, black and red forest berries with layers of creamy complexity offered by the extended barrel maturation on lees. The palate is wonderfully full, showing ripe strawberries, blackberriy and plum, with a concentrated core of fruit essence and racy acidity that achieves amazing vivacity. The finish is exceptionally long. An exceptional wine that's totally world class. "This affordable take on the Barossa blend has plenty of brash primary fruit and is custom-made for drinking young. Beautifully assembled!" -Sumptuous, "Smoky red berry, cherry, floral and herbal aromas reminded me of a suave Chateauneuf du Pape. Already seductive and delicious!" -Stephen Tanzer's
Dean Hewitson has been very fortunate to be tutored by some of the best wine makers and wine scientists in the world. Hewitson made the savvy decision to create long term associations with a network of established growers, allowing him the luxury of selecting only the best fruit. Vineyards are picked at optimum maturity and vinified separately on skins before finishing fermentation and malolactic in old French barriques, then matured in these same barrels for twelve months without racking. These are traditional methods which intensify the flavour and complexity. The assembled wine comprises almost equal portions of Grenache and Shiraz with minor balances of Mourvedre and Cinsault. Alcohol 14.0%
A beautifully structured, concentrated Rhône style GSM from traditionally grown vineyards dating back to the late 1800s in the heart of the Barossa. The old, deep rooted vines of bearing Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Cinsault accept their fate without blinking. They have seen every poor growing season before and will again, due to their natural affinity for the Barossa Valley. "This is a beautifully crafted wine. I immediately bought a case. Don't miss out on this one. I am rarely as confident of a wine as I am of this one. I defy you not to like it!" -Winegent.com
