This example has a bouquet of cherries and raspberries with a full and flavoursome palate showing silky tannins and a long, lingering finish. Geddes Wines Seldom Inn Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2008 RRP - $26.95 Bottle - $24.95 Case of 12 - $299.40           Gold - 2009 Small Winemakers Wineshow ; Silver - 2009 McLaren Vale Wine Show AROMA The lifted aromas of spice, cherry, rose petal and tar are derived from the Grenache and the sense of depth of plums and pepper comes from the Shiraz. The Mataro adds earthy meaty notes and with all three varieties combined form a complex nose. PALATE The Grenache automatically hits the front palate with its sweet confectionary spiced cherry fruit following on into the density of plums and dark fruits from the Shiraz with the Mataro rounding the flavours off and an earthy long lasting length. Kaesler Avignon Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre 2007 RRP - $32.95 Bottle - $29.95 Case of 12 - $359.40           Colour: Garnet with a bight youthful edge. Nose: Plum, plum skin, musk, lipstick and cherry. Will fill out substantially over time. Palate: Nice mineral acidity on entry. The palate expands, to offer nice, early ripened plum. The palate has good length that is well knitted to finish by the acidity. Sinewy and more like a marathon runner, than 100 metre sprinter. Notes: The most pure Avignon to date. Almost a waste to drink it young, it will expand and develop over the next 10 years Case Only (12 Units)

Kaesler Stonehorse Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre 2007 RRP - $23.95 Bottle - $21.95 Case of 12 - $263.40           Colour: Bright garnet with a youthful edge. Nose: Ripe berries, with spicy savoury overtones. Palate: Entry displays mulberries, blackberries and plum fruit characters with fine tannin and tasty acidity. As the wine moves through the palate, the mouth feel widens and becomes quite savoury. The palate is rich and smooth with good length. The aftertaste is very Mourvedre (Mataro) with a strong flavour of dark chocolate. This wine will age over the next 5 years, but freshness in style is what we intended. Enjoy. Case Only (12 Units)

Rolf Binder Heinrich Shiraz Mataro Grenache 2006 RRP - $26.99 Bottle - $24.95 Case of 12 - $299.40           Deep vibrant red with youthful inkiness. Vibrant ripe red and purple berry fruits are complimented by perfumed notes, wood spice, milk chocolate and leather. Evolves and changes in the glass over the duration of a bottle. Verging on full bodied this is the pinnacle of Rolf Binder’s blending prowess. Testament to this is the complete harmony of the three varieties with neither one discernible in this complete blend. It is tighter and finer than previous vintages with greater influence from the acidity and fine tannin structure rather than the plush creaminess. – Decant before serving. Case Only (12 Units)

Teusner Avatar Grenache Shiraz Mataro 2007 RRP - $31.95 Bottle - $29.95 Case of 12 - $359.40           A slightly more brooding, savoury nose, emphasizing the earthy undertones of the Mataro, rather than the sweet fruit of the Grenache. The tannins have also been given the opportunity to complex, giving a fine, elegant and silky structure to the palate. The wine finishes clean and well balanced. Case Only (12 Units)

Teusner Joshua Grenache Mataro Shiraz 2009 RRP - $26.95 Bottle - $25.95 Case of 12 - $311.40           93 points Campbell Mattinson - Winefront Monthly A wine that displays copious amounts of fresh red berry fruits and dusty tobacco leaf, without the intrusion of oak influence. A splash of mataro adds to the earthy complexity, whilst a little shiraz is used for structure and weight. The ripe tannins of the Grenache are gently supportive, without being intrusive. This is a wine designed to enjoy immediately that will cellar well for at least five years. Case Only (12 Units)

Tim Adams The Fergus Grenache 2006 RRP - $23.99 Bottle - $22.95 Case of 12 - $275.40           The wine has lifted red berry aromas and flavours, complexed by Grenache spiciness and given extra back palate astringency by the blending of other more tannic red varieties. It is a mouthfilling wine that may be kept for up to 10 years, but will go nicely with duck, turkey, lamb and gamey meats any time soon. Case Only (12 Units)

Tim Gramp Mclaren Vale Grenache 2006 RRP - $18.99 Bottle - $17.00 Case of 12 - $198.27           This is a fruit dominated style of wine displaying a myriad of spice, violets and rose petal aromas. The palate combines concentrated berry flavours and fine tannins finishing with alluring length. This unoaked wine is best enjoyed in its youth as a versatile food accompaniment.
