Ripe aromas of spiced pear with a hint of citrus, exotic fruit and mineral notes follow on to the palate, which shows good breadth and texture as a result of some barrel fermentation. Image Not Available Coney Piccolo Pinot Gris 2009 RRP - $28.95
Bottle - $26.95 Case of 12 - $323.40

The result of crafty winemaking is a nicely judged kick for touch - somewhere between the Simpsons' Mr Burns and Dolly Parton. We think the ball got over the sideline as intended and the result is a fruity version pleasant with your meal or as an aperitif. (My wife's informed palate had a hint of "Smokers" (remember those little pink lollies!) on the nose.)

Leaning as we do in advancing years towards sackcloth and ashes, we'll probably go for the leaner, zestier version of Pinot Gris in future years unless you clamour for the luscious (even lascivious) fuller expression of womanhood. Let us know.

Bottle - $15.95 Case of 12 - $191.40

All along Marlborough’s wild coast, clinging to rocks at low tide is the seaweed Durvillea. We know it as bull kelp or rimurapa, and its strong lines, shapes, textures and colours mirror the depth and complexity of flavours found in our wine.
This smooth Pinot Grigio encapsulates the best of New Zealand wine. Admire the yellow golden shimmers before revelling in the fruitness and balanced acidity. It has a hint of ripe pears and steely minerality with a long delectable finish.
