Carlei Estate Shiraz Heathcote 2004 RRP - $49.99 Bottle - $46.95 Case of 6 - $281.70           Rating 93 Points - James Halliday Wine Companion 2008 Complex brown spice and pepper on the nose with ripe plums and a lifted floral note. This is a very powerful wine with typical earthiness and chewy, fleshy texture. The finish is persistent with fine tannins and a fabulous balanced acidity. There is some musky perfume and smoky new oak as well. Classically structured, this wine offers lovely drinking now but will improve over the next 3 to 5 years. Carlei Green Vineyards Shiraz 2005 RRP - $29.00 Bottle - $24.95 Case of 6 - $149.70           Very deep red with a purple hue, the aroma has intense ripe red and black fruits avoiding any over-ripe elements. Hints of spice and savoury notes lead to a palate that complements the aromas, rich and round with intense, juicy and chewy fruit, framed by soft but persistent tannins and a touch of oak. A lingering, balanced mineral acidity finishes a complex wine representing the classical Cambrian terroir in a warmer year. These are harmoniously backed by quality French oak. Rich and sweet plum with spicy fruit flavours are balanced by quality vanilla oak characters.
